EVENT MANAGER
Class III, Step 1 - $13.00/hour
Up to 25 hours per week to be arranged
-This is a student position-

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for special events assigned by the Assistant Director, Programs & Services
  • Meets with event planner(s) to review event schedule, prior technical requests, staffing
  • Coordinates event timeline with Operations, Buildings Managers, and Technical Services staff
  • Works closely with catering staff to ensure access and set-up for event
  • Monitors event to ensure proper use of facility and equipment
  • Ensures all CCSC policies and procedures are followed with regard to event activities
  • Provides insurance waivers, special event insurance certificates to event planner
  • Receives insurance funds if applicable
  • Works closely with on site building staff in the event of campus/building emergency
  • Responsible for notifying UPD if their assistance is deemed necessary
  • Ensures that event planner(s) / monitors receive emergency evacuation procedures
  • Prepares and submits a detailed written and emailed event log

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior work experience requiring supervisory skills is strongly recommended
  • Background in Student Center operation and/or student activities desirable
  • Must have ability to supervise and direct peers, work independently under minimum supervision, able to interpret and carry out Student Center policies
  • Ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations
  • Ability to participate in group meetings, clearly express ideas and suggestions
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Dependability and willingness to assume and carry out responsibilities needed
  • Available for evening and weekend shifts, attend weekly staff meetings
  • Must be enrolled at SFSU with a minimum of 6 units (will verify)
