Resource Library Assistant
Class I, Step 1 - $9.37/hour
Up to 20 Hours per week may be arranged
-This is a grant-funded student position-
Position is dependent on continuance of funding

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Answer phone calls, assist resource library visitors, and perform other reception duties.
  • Assist with identifying, cultivating, and developing student research projects, essays, online photo essays, and thesis.
  • Assist with developing storage and cataloguing for archiving materials.
  • Assist with developing reference and resource lists including books, films, and documentaries.
  • Consult with Program Development Officer and Fund & Resource Development Officer in identifying format, documenting, and recording events.
  • Assist with development timeline for website of resource library
  • Assist with designing and implementing a training program for new staff to the Resource Library.
  • Assist with identifying software and technology for cataloging.
  • Assist with drafts of publicity materials needed – website, listserv, pamphlets etc.
  • Provide guidance to patrons on search methods and available library materials.
  • Assist with the coordination and facilitation of meetings.
  • Assist with the development of publicity and presentation materials and outreach plan to student organization, campus entities.
  • Attend meetings as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a current SFSU Student enrolled in a least six units.
  • Any combination equivalent to:  Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in clerical skills and six months of related clerical experience.
  • Must have experience with Macintosh computers and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or other graphical software.
  • Experience in special collections and archive is preferred.
  • Experience designing and developing web pages and sites desired.
